If you can find a high quality image of the cover i can crop it for you and add it no prob.
Google image search is only displaying some low quality pics for that album

Um, yes please?! I've copied them to the phone, in the root folder, the DCIM folder, the downloads folder... I can't pick them as wallpaper... the pictures applet doesn't even display them. And yes, I've disconnected the phone from the USB cable before trying. Saw that somewhere else.

I am wondering this same thing. When I download these and set as wallpaper from pictures it makes me crop them and has really horrible quality. Any help??
Actually it seems like none of the downloaded ones have the same quality as the stock wallpapers. any help here? should 1280x960 work better??? 1600x1200?

Where did you find the stock wallapers? I don't see them, when I connect my phone over USB. I finally posted my wallpapers to a web site, viewed them in the browser, saved the picture, then opened it from the download window, and I could finally pick it as a wallpaper... however it did just what you said and demanded I crop it. I formmated it as 960x480 (3 screens wide, in portrait orientation), in hopes it would span, just like the factory wallpapers.

Thanks to everyone who's been submitting wallpapers the last few weeks - we're now upto a little over ~1,200 which is awesome!

Also i found a handy demo video showing you exactly how to use the wallpapers on the Android platform.

I've been having the same trouble as you. When you use a non "wallpaper gallery" image android forces you to "crop" it. I believe what is happening is android resizes/crops the image then saves it in a lower quality jpg, that's why even if you started with a 640 x 480 and you select the whole thing it still ends up looking kind of crappy.
I'm wondering if there is a way to just put an image into the "wallpaper gallery" that comes up with you select wallpaper from holding on the desktop.
If anybody figures out how to assign a wallpaper without going through the crop process let me know! I want to adapt all my wallpapers from www.pixelhigh.com
