I do not see how the phone checks for updates. You just select "System Updates", and a blank screen with small print saying "your system is currently up to date". Now how do I trust that phone knows this? And I can't manually refresh so I can update it. There is no sign that it even checks, because nothing happens. It is instant when I tap "system updates".

Maybe it checks for them in the background? I'm still not familiar with the way Android works, mostly because I'm very used to the iPhones's OS.

Cuhnool

This is the way it I believe it works.
Your phone doesn't check in. You have to wait for the update to be sent to your phone.
Your phone will receive an sms and then the update will begin.

Actually the phone does check in. There is a service which periodically checks the Google servers for updates. You can force the phone to check in with "Any Cut" from the market and making a shortcut to Settings on your home. The update service that runs is scheduled by Android, I am not sure what the interval is, but it checks in at least once every few days. The "System updates" in "About phone" just reads the last check in status.

So basically, it does this in the background during the intervals the device checks in?
