We've all used the very useful 'predictive text' (T9 text entry system) feature on our mobiles when either emailing or texting. It's the system that accurately correlates number patterns to spelled words.

New Swype touch screen text entry could be available soon for Android-swype_textentry.jpg

Well the creators of that system have developed Swype. Swype is a system where users can type blindingly fast on a touchscreen by tracing their finger or stylus over the letters without lifting up. The technology will then connect the letters to form words.

Here's a CNET demo video:

Also here's an old demo video of Android app WritingPad that uses the same interface.

Very cool indeed! I encountered SlideIT too, and I really liked it, you can try it too:

I can't try Swype since it's not even out yet.

what if you make a mistake in one of the letters, or the keyboard miss read one of the letters? I think part of the on-screen keyboard is that there will always be errors, e.g. you want "e", it could read "r" either because your finger is not exactly at the center of the "e" key...could be a nightmare to correct. By the way how to you finish the word if you go back to correct one mistake?
