There are so many little issues that really adds up and brings me down. I feel like everything with this phone is only half done. The OS itself is great, a little sluggish getting to the home screen once in awhile but its a bunch of little things that keep adding up that starts to become tiresome and annoying. Is anyone else experiencing this? Im in the US with firmware 1.1 and build R33.
1. Some applications will not shut down when I turn it of and switch to home screen, in turn battery is being drained.
2. Music player creates its own playlist even though I specifically chose one. Also after about 6 songs into the playlist the earphone control (button that pauses or forward the songs) ceases to function.
3. Browser freezes about 4 out of 5 using it.
These are just a few and like I said they are little things. I so want to like this phone and I am hoping that the "cupcake" upgrade will seal it for me. I enjoy the qwerky keyboard (my first) and prefer it to a screen only keyboard.
Am I just nit picking? Is anyone else feeling this. Thanks for listening and all replies are helpful.

Hey Brie,
Everyone has qualms about what they dont like or were expecting from any phone they get. My kids for example got the iphone and found out quickly that there are somethings it doesnt do and its supposed to be the 'god' of the touch screens? I doubt there will ever be a phone that satisfies all our wants. Yes there are some things I dont like about the phone too.
1) Without wifi or edge - most of the need of my phone is taken away from me......
2) I dont like the set up of the music player either. I too have play lists that is doesnt want to load. But I dont listen to the music as much as I thought I would, so I just hit the party shuffle when I do.
3) The camera function, well doesnt really function all that well, but again, I dont use it that often to let it bother me.
4)Applications that forget to close when you close it. This one though you cant blame on the the phones OS, because it is most likely a bug in the apps programing. The best thing here is to email the app programmer and explain the problem. I have done this to 7 programs and within the week, all 7 emailed me back personally on the issues. Kudos to them for that.
5) The phone wont teleport me to the place it says I really am on the GPS.... well I guess Im stretching that one lol.
Hang in there... I guess you have to look at your phone like a relationship. If the little things drive you crazy - you cant change the phone (or person) - so move on - OR - realize all the GREAT things one does / has and except the little things as part of it. If you cant do either, it might be that your too damn picky lol

Can you shutdown the apps if you gain root access?
That's weird the browser crashes so often- maybe you downloaded an app off of market that is mucking up the browser? I've read a post who have regained functionality/stability by doing this.
Cupcake should be coming soon, if the Magic is coming out in April then that must mean that cupcake is ready (hopefully). T-mobile should have nothing to do with distributing the updates- Google should just put it up on the Android market and let users download it. It's like your DSL company issuing updates for your OS.
And I would be cautiously optimistic about cupcake. Expect old problems to be fixed and new ones to appear- hopefully more problems will be fixed.

how do you know the apps are still running? Long pressing the home screen gives you a list of "recent" apps that WERE open. It doesn't show you what is currently running, for that, you'd need to download the app "task switcher" to see those.
my browser never freezes, could be a problem with your model.
As far as cupcake goes:

cupcake is still very much a work in progress. It is a development branch, not a release.

Thanks for the cupcake knowledge I thought it was going to be a major update. As far as running apps go when I turn it off and press home the icon is still running in the notification bar. And I think your right perhaps there is some corruption with my browser software, is there a way to reinstall it?. Thanks for the help.

It is a major update- you get the on-screen keyboard and based on the HTC Magic you also get...
The Magic's photo gallery app has built-in video playback, unlike on the G1. You can record videos with the phone, as well, at two quality settings - "low" and "high." The video player plays movies from a microSD card in full-screen mode.
In the Magic's Gmail app, you can check off multiple messages to archive, label or delete them. According to other reports, Cupcake also includes a much faster Web browser and stereo Bluetooth audio.
Since the Magic = G1 internally, I would assume that G1 owners would get this as well.

Thanks Roidrage for this I hope that we get the update before the Magic comes out, it just seems like the new kid gets all the fun stuff, not very fair. I do like the qwerky key pad which the Magic does not have. Thanks again.

I don't think it will come our first, but I hope cupcake comes out at the same time. But I'm not so sure... I wouldn't be surprised if there was a delay.

What exactly is in your notification bar? Many apps leave a notification, even if the app itself is closed. For example, you may get a SMS notification in the notification bar, but that doesnt' mean the SMS app is open.
And just to be clear, cupcake is not an update. It seems every time any of the features that the Cupcake Development Branch is working get mentioned in a rumor, people go "Cupcake is coming! Cupcake is coming!" No, it's not. Features developed by the Cupcake Development Branch are *Rumored* to be coming in April, but there are plenty of other features discussed that are NOT coming according to the rumor. The sooner we get off this Cupcake = Name of A Specific Update nonsense the quicker we can get to actual information.
The link I provided is from Android, the horse's mouth, pardon me if I take their word over someone spreading rumors. Here's that info again.

True, but the name stuck for the next G1 update and it will be awful hard to change that until it actually comes out as a "RC34 update" or other name.
We can start some Android slang-
cupcake (adj) awesome, game-changing, the best
"Hey, did you download the April update yet?"
"Yeah, this update is sooo cupcake! MY GPS works now!"
OR
"How's you're steak?"
"Man, this steak is cupcake!"
Anyways, it's "allegedly" coming out in April. Just go to google news and type in "android cupcake"
