...it does nothing. Contributing to this forum is like filling out a Microsoft 'Error Report' when Excel crashes.

No one gives a crap about the G1 - it was an experiment by a company that had previously been successful; and decided to enter a realm within which it had ZERO experience - and did so with ZERO anticipation. The G1 is a HORRIBLE mistake. In fact, I'm only on this forum now because I had a missed phone call 5 minutes ago and I am waiting while my G1 reboots for the THIRD time. FIVE MINUTES to make a phone call - ON A PHONE. I'm not talking about taking a photo, or finding the best route to Seattle. I'm talking about making a phone call USING A PHONE. I've begged with T-Mobile (don't get me started on THAT company) to give me a duplicate SIM card so that I can carry a second phone TO MAKE PHONE CALLS. I have a Blackberry Curve which is 5 years old and IN MANY WAYS a better device.

I feel like a pack-rat enticed by the glitter of the 'Smart Phone'. The only difference is that a pack-rat has enough sense not to try to USE the shiny objects to which it is attracted.

Oh, and has anyone tried to communicate on this "Talk Android" forum using an actual android phone? Can't do it; no way to connect to the 'Log In' area using the email link. I keep forgetting that ideas (like the 'Smart Phone' and this Forum) are implemented by people who haven't a clue.

Wow, you sound like you have more issues than I do. I have no problem making phone calls or anything like that. Other than the issue talked about in this thread and some SMS issues, my G1 has been awesome.

I'm on my 3rd attempt to send the same email from my phone and it's still not going through. Gonna be on my 3rd restart today - hopefully that will help it send a fucking simple one-line-of-text email...

I just spent a good 1-2 hours with tmobile tech support and didn't get anything resolved. I feel really pissed off right now, they actually broke the internet on my phone entirely trying to even understand what is going on.

I guess it's time to switch to a different phone (and carrier) that actually works.

I'm having this same problem.
It seems so unpredictable.
Messages in my Outbox say, "Sending" in red.... forever.
I have a Motorola Droid on Verizon.

This is the fix which I came with up on my Android to work around this bug:

1. Open Label Outbox

2. Select original offending message.

3. Scroll down to end of message and select Reply and then Save draft.

4. Close Outbox and open label Drafts.

5. Open email and there is your unsent message which can now be sent, copied or discarded!

Hi,
I had Android 1.6 and it was the same. The only mod that did not have this issue was the CyanogenMod 5.0.8. I have CyanogenMod 6.1 RC1 now and the bug is here again.

gchead, thank you very much. This really works.

I fonud a quick fix for this. Settings>Applications> Find Gmail> Clear Data/Cache> Go back into GMail - it will resync your mail - then allow you to send.

I also had some problems but with a firmware upgrade all my problems are solved.
