I'm an iPhone user that is about to move to Android.

Phone of choice currently is the Samsung Galaxy S2 ....

Can you long term users and android experts advise of any alternatives I should look at?

TIA

The hard thing to get about Android is that there's no "best" handset - this isn't iOS, it's not "take it or leave it" country.

You need to choose the handset which works for you - that means looking at things like size, weight, screen resolution, battery life and finding what works for you.

A phone with a big (4.3in) display is often too bulky to lug around but the smaller phones may not be ideal for some apps - and so on.

Some phones have FAR better cameras that others, so if that's what you're keen on you need to look at those.

Here we offer choices y'see - rather than just ramming a one-size-fits-all solution at everyone - means you need to work at it a bit...

The Galaxy S2 is a good choice and it will have support for a while to come. IF not offcially then through Cyanogen.

The only phone i think would be better for a long term Android would be the Nexus which is GUARENTEED to have Google support

I recently switched from iOS to android and I think it's important to actually see your phone. Just like somewhatdog said, although a 4.3 inch screen looks good in photos and videos it might be to big or small for your own needs.

If you want to try out the latest Android OS, then Samsung Galaxy Nexus will be perfect for you. SG2 is good and you might also like phones from HTC.
