Hello Friends!!
I have an extremely annoying problem with my motorola defy (running android 2.1)
Usually it has very good battery life, especially since i replaced the battery to a bigger one. On average it can survive for 2-3 days with moderate use.

But recently more and more often i stumble upon this problem:
suddenly it would start consume the battery like crazy out of the blue!! - I can see this even simply by touching the phone, while it's sitting on the table - it's quite HOT!!
After fully charging it - 2 or 3 hours and it's completely dead (won't switch on until i plug the AC)
I'm suspecting that this is software-related problem, since it happens only sometimes.
I'm trying to kill the unused processes with advanced task killer, but it doesn't seem to help as well.

Do you people have any thoughts on how can i start to solve this problem?
Would be glad to hear any ideas.
Thanks.

How many apps do you have installed? Also, go into your "settings" and tap on "applications" - under there you will see a heading that says "battery use". If you tap on that, it will show you what's eating your battery - right now, my screen is using 57%, wi-fi 18%, tablet idle 15%, Maps 6%, and the Android OS is using 4%. Also, if you have Superbox, you can look under "memory/cpu" and it will show you what's used and what's unused in the memory. You can free up memory in that setting as well and hopefully extend battery life. All of these things are stuff that I have used, but I'm quite sure there are other, more educated minds out there that could probably tell you a lot more than I can. Just my 2 cents, and I'm definitely no expert.

It may be battery problem also, or your phone been infected with virus, it could be virus problem also, just show your phone to the service center.

I am using an app called SystemTuner for a more detailed view of the processes running and how much CPU they are eating up.
It can even detail system and kernel processes that are hidden from your view with the stock Battery Usage view in the settings.

I had a similar problem and it helped me locate the hungry app.
