Hi I hope you can help. I am thrilled with much of the HERO but ....I cannot make the ring tone change nor listen to it before I change it - when I change it it still sounds the same??? Also maybe getting deaf but would like to increase volume???

Also I have not as yet worked out how to synch with my microsoft outloook calendar.

I also seem to be firing off telephone calls by mistake when looking for my contacts re who to phone.

ANd yet another question. Is it possible to synch my Hero with Palm Pilot Tungsten E2 so I can download my full address book and phone numbers etc before ditching my palm pilot. I really need a calendar with me all the time for business...If you can solve all these I will be very happy!! Feel very stupid but some guru out there may help me. Have read all the bits and bobs and couldnt find info on these. Many thanks

The ringtone should easily be changed by going settings > personalize > default ringtone. I don't think you can change it if your phone's set to vibrate only or silent mode. If you want to use a music track on the phone as the ringtone, open up the music player, play the track of choice, hit menu, and select "use as ringtone".

Syncing with outlook should be easily done thru the HTC Sync software. Latest version is available on HTC's website.

When looking thru your contacts, use the People app, rather than going thru the Phone button at the bottom of the home screen.

As far as I know, you can't sync directly between the Hero and Palm. You'd have to do this thru outlook and HTC Sync. Better yet, use Google calendar, then your calender's available on your phone and thru any web browser.

My G1 phone on maximum volume, with an obnoxiously loud alert, is still inaudible if the phone is not right near me. If it's in a pocket in another room, I won't hear it.

If I'm outdoors on the street, I won't hear it.

This makes the ringers and alerts basically useless, and I was wondering if there were any tips on tweaking the software or hardware to increase the max alert volume.

I have just bought an HTC HERO. I was able to sync it with Outlook in my PC. I often use the modem of my mobile for connecting to Internet on my laptop. I have following questions:
1. Like Nokia (PC Suit) can I use Bluetooth to connect to internet on my laptop through HTC Hero (without using USB cable)?

2. Even with USB cable I was able to connect Internet on my laptop through HTC Hero only once. Now when I try to connect - it connects but does not give "Internet Access". What should I do? (The drivers are properly installed, and reinstalled).

3. How can I know "call duration". My Noika E66 used to show the call duration immediately after the completion of the call, and could check it later through LOG.
