We had another busy week at TalkAndroid so here’s a recap of all the top stories. E3 and WWDC took place this week. E3 showed us some new upcoming games and WWDC was just about Apple trying to play catch up, but what else is new? Samsung has announced all their rumored devices, which pretty much just leaves the Galaxy Camera 2 for their June 20th event in London. We are getting very close to the HTC Butterfly S, HTC One Mini and the Xperia ZU. BTW, is it too soon to start talking about the Galaxy S 5? It’s time to get caught up and get ready for another exciting week.

Huawei Ascent P6 specs and pictures of new “Emotion UI” leaked

Huawei-Ascend-P6-Emotion-UI

Once again, thanks to evleaks Huawei’s Ascend P6′s specs and screen shots of its new Emotion UI have been leaked. According to evleaks, the Huawei Ascend P6 will come with a 4.7-inch 720p HD touchscreen, a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, an 8 MP BSI rear camera with macro capabilities starting at 4 cm, and a 5 MP front-facing camera with “face enhance.” Nothing out of the ordinary as the specs are just about aligned with current other flagship device specs. The most interesting part was the leaked shots of its Emotion UI.

As you can see the shots kind of reminds you of a “wooden” like theme. At least it does for me. Certainly not my taste, but I’m sure it will interest other people. Hopefully Huawei just keeps their device currently updated with each Android update.

Android could hit 1 billion phones shipped annually by 2017, Windows Phone expected to have 400% growth

by Harrison Kaminsky on

Android_One_Billion_2017

Android’s got a pretty steady grip on the market right now, and it doesn’t seem like it’s going away anytime soon. Canalys, a marketing research firm, has recent reports backing up that statement, and the statistics may even be a little bit scary.

By 2017, Android is expected to hit 1 billion phone shipments— annually. And this is all with Android expected to lose 0.6% of its market share, standing tall at a total of 67.1%. Right now, Android ships 470 million phones annually, so that figure is expected to more than double. Oh, and one more thing— this is only counting phones, and not tablets, or any other type of device Google launches four years from now running Android.

Windows Phone is expected to take a pretty solid chunk of the market too, as it is expected to see 400% growth between now and 2017. Check out the full presser after the break. » Read the rest

TalkAndroid_Weekly_Recap

We had another busy week at TalkAndroid so here’s a recap of all the top stories. Those that love hardware and vanilla Android will be happy to know that the HTC One Nexus Edition is real. It was announced by Sundar Pachai and will be available on June 26. The big question is if Google plans on releasing anymore Nexus devices, or at least Nexus phones? The Motorola X phone has been confirmed for October release, but you can grab the white Nexus 4 now. Samsung made the Galaxy S 4 mini official, but they have some more stuff to announce on June 20th in London. This coming week we have Computex, so expect some announcements from ASUS and Acer for the tablet segment. It’s time to get caught up and get ready for another exciting week.
