Popular social media network Pinterest updated their Android app today adding some new features to help improve interactions between users. Mirroring a change made to their web based site, Pinterest will now alert you via a push notification whenever someone likes, comments, or repins your stuff. The app will also let you “mention” friends in comments, a feature that is popular with other social media networks like Facebook, Google+ and Twitter. The app will also start to provide users with suggestions for search terms as they type in the search box. Hit the break for some screenshots of the new features and download links.

HTC First

The HTC First launched just last month, but sources say that the device known as the “Facebook phone” will soon be discontinued by AT&T. The source told tech website BGR that AT&T has sold less than 15,000 units nationwide, and will be returning their unsold inventory back to HTC as a result of its poor performance. We should have seen this coming last week when AT&T dropped the phone’s price from $100 to 99¢ just a month into its availability.

Despite the report, a statement by an AT&T spokeswomen said, “as mentioned previously, we do pricing promotions all the time and have made no decisions on future plans,” giving a glimmer of hope to those who are fans of the phone with Facebook Home in-built.

If you like quiz games, you might want to check out Quiz of Seers from Blyts. We are very familiar with Blyts because we covered another cool game from them called Greedy Spiders. Quiz of Seers is a new app that’s already getting great user reviews. It offers three game modes: Single, Versus, and Live. Single is where you play on your own to get some practice. The Versus mode lets you play against your friends or random players, and the Live mode pits you in battles with multiple players worldwide in real time. Whichever mode you choose, you gain points that will ultimately earn you potions. Each potion gives you the ability to eliminate one of the multiple choice answers. Signing up is easy, you have your choice of creating an account via email or Facebook.

Android’s Sundar Pichai teases Google I/O 2013 plans

by Roy Alugbue on

Google I/O is just a few days away and if you were expecting to see a brand-new OS or a revolutionary device— then you will probably be a little disappointed at this tidbit of news. Android head Sundar Pichai recently expressed some hints of what we can expect to see, especially for all of you developers out there:

“It’s going to be different. It’s not a time when we have much in the way of launches of new products or a new operating system. Both on Android and Chrome, we’re going to focus this I/O on all of the kinds of things we’re doing for developers, so that they can write better things. We will show how Google services are doing amazing things on top of these two platforms”.

Yeah— it’s definitely a bummer, we know. Fortunately there is a silver lining to look forward to: the development and arrival of some pretty neat concepts and improvements to the Android and Chrome platforms. In his interview, Pichai highlights that because of the Android platform’s flexibility and design, consumers are able to see the arrival of Facebook Home, part of many ”welcome innovations“. Additionally, items like Amazon’s Kindle Fire series of tablets and its customized Android software represent the computer explosion of today, which is a benefit for consumers of all.

Paranoid_Android_Chat_Head_Halo_Multiple_Notifications

We’ve shown you what the folks at Paranoid Android have been working on, and since the testing stage of Halo began a few days ago, it was revealed that support for multiple notifications was lacking. It looks like this feature has been added, and a preview video showcases it in action.

As a refresher, Paranoid Android has been working on a way to implement Facebook Messenger’s “chat head” feature into all apps. Early results show that they have done a wonderful job. With their Halo feature, clicking a notification bubble (“chat head”) opens an overlaying applet to tend to the notification without having to close the app that you were using. It’s simply brilliant, and makes notifications and multitasking a breeze. » Read the rest

How to make a Drama Shot or Sequence Shot on the HTC One

HTC_One_Sequence_Shot_Just_Like_Drama_Shot

So you own an HTC One and you’re a tad jealous of the Drama Shot feature on the Galaxy S 4. No worries because you can do the same thing on your HTC One by utilizing the Sequence Shot feature, but there is some good news and bad news. The good news is that as long as you’re using Zoe, you can make your Sequence Shot anytime you want. With the Galaxy S 4, you have to know that you want to take a Drama Shot before you take the photo. Not only that, you need to make your edits before you can take any other pictures. The results are cool, but a very cumbersome feature. With HTC’s use of Zoe, you can play around with your sequence shot after you get home or even weeks later as long as the Zoe is still on your phone. Now the bad news: You won’t get as many frames as the Galaxy S 4 since the S 4 takes 100 frames over four seconds, while HTC Zoe grabs only 20 frames for 3 seconds. Still, you can get a pretty good looking Drama Shot Sequence Shot, so hit the break to find out how it’s done.

Facebook Home support appears for Samsung Galaxy S 4, HTC One, Sony Xperia ZL

Facebook_Home

If you recently got your hands on one of the latest and greatest smartphones to hit the market, like the Samsung Galaxy S 4 or the HTC One, you were probably wondering how great it would be to slap the Facebook Home launcher on it. Not really, but it does seem Facebook is hoping owners of those devices might give their Home launcher a try despite the generally poor reception it has received since hitting the market. Although the Facebook Home app still shows its last update as being April 22, 2013, some users have discovered a new screen popping up on their devices asking if they would like to “Use Home Anyway” when they hit the unsupported device screen when launching the app. This appears to be true on both the Galaxy S 4 and the Sony Xperia ZL. Meanwhile, owners of the HTC One don’t even get the unsupported device screen, instead going straight into the launcher. » Read the rest
