It’s Wednesday kids and that means it’s time for a follow-up to the previous ComScore stats we saw last month. In the newest study, ol’ Sammy continues to lead all manufacturers with a nice 25.4% market share. While Samsung is tops among all device manufacturers, there’s a bigger picture for the Android platform. The Android OS is the top OS by accounting for 48.6% of all smartphone subscribers. Read on for specific details of their latest study.
3 Android manufacturers are currently in the top 3 of OEM manufacturers. In a 3-month period ending in January, 234 million Americans aged 13 and older used some sort of mobile device. Samsung is the top manufacturer at 25.4%, followed by LG at 19.7% and Motorola at 13.2%. Apple continues its steady growth at 12.8% and RIM is well… last at 6.6%.
U.S Smartphone subscribers grew too by officially passing the 100-million mark. Since October 2011, the number of subscribers grew 13 percent to 101.3 million subscribers. Of all the operating systems out there, Android leads the charge with a 48.6 market share. Apple and RIM follow at 29.5% and 15.2%, respectively.
In some added not-so-surprising news: mobile content usage grew tremendously. Downloaded applications were used by 48.6% of subscribers and browsers were used by 48.5% of individuals. Moreover, accessing social networking sites grew to 35.7% and gaming on our devices grew to 31.8%.
