You would be hard pressed nowadays to find someone who hasn’t used PayPal, and most of those people continue using it on a regular basis.

Yesterday, PayPal released an update to their app for the Android platform that really bumps it up from it’s previous standings. No longer will the app only send money (in a… how would we say… non-pretty interface), new features now include:

  • Bump support: Bump is an app that lets two users swap contact info by fist-bumping their smartphones together.
  • Split the Check: You and your friends go out and spend a ton of money on a meal, and the restraunt only allows one credit card? That’s okay, because with this new feature, you can tally up the total, divide by number of cheapska- er, people who didn’t pay, and sends out a payment request to their PayPal accounts. Simple!

You can bet that you’ll be seeing more and more features on PayPal’s mobile platform, as reports from the company indicate they saw more money come and go through their service in the first half of 2010 than all of 2009 combined.

To download the update, open up the market and go to your downloads, or, for those who don’t have the app at all, simply search “PayPal” in the Android market.

Like a lot of previous times awesome things like this have come out, not a lot of people I know have used them! Are we ready for the technology, or will I be some old geezer by then?
