Recently, there was a big to do over some wallpaper apps that seemed to be gathering user data and sending it to some remote, unknown website in China. Everyone’s initial response? Malicious software! Kill it with fire!

Turns out, the apps weren’t doing anything malicious at all. It’s developer was simply a little overly zealous about the information that the apps collected about the handsets they were installed on. Google has now completed it’s investigation, and concluded these results. They also sent the developer some “helpful hints” to keep this kind of thing from happening again.
