Motorola Milestone and Backflip Hit India

The international flipping continues from Motorola, with the Backflip  as well as the Milestone XT720 coming to India recently.

The Backflip, at 22,990 INR (or $499),  is the less expensive of the two, housing a 3.1 inch screen along with the usual Android connectivity options: WiFi, GPS, and stereo Bluetooth. It also has a 5 MP camera with flash and comes with a 2 GB card to hold those pictures you take. Naturally, it also sports the unique flipping keyboard for which it is named. The price comes at a…er…price, however. The Backflip is oddly running Android 1.5, several version behind of what is currently available.

The Milestone, meanwhile, forgoing the physical keyboard, offers more spec-wise at a stiffer price, coming in at a whopping 34,990 (or $749). Offering a higher resolution 3.7 inch screen, along with a 8MP autofocus camera complete with Xenon flash and 720p video recording, and an HDMI port, not to mention Android 2.1, it stands more or less on par with what’s currently available (though 2.2 would be nice). Included in the box is also an 8 Gig microSD, making it a better choice out of the box for media.

With the release of these phones, as well as other successful international releases, it’s good to see Motorola becoming a strong force in the mobile world again.
