In a story that will excite most Australian Android fans, the Samsung Galaxy S is coming to Telstra. Inside sources have told us it will be coming out between the 14th and 20th of August. It will not be the same model as what Optus has been selling, as it will have Next G network capabilities. It looks like the most comparable Android phone on the Market to the iPhone 4 (Specifications wise) without the reception issues and weighing in at 13% less than the iPhone 4. This should create more competition and mean more Android phones to choose from for the Australian public.

    “It looks like the most comparable Android phone on the Market to the iPhone 4 (Specifications wise).”

    Don’t forget about the HTC Desire.

    The Galaxy and Desire have been selling like hotcakes!

    I have a Samsung Galaxy S, and whilst the software is still buggy, the phone itself is brilliant. GPS still sucks though until they fix the problems :(

    That being said, Telstra should be avoided at all costs. I’ve seen them accidentally close at least 2 different people’s mobile accounts in the past (no, I’m NOT joking), the people who work there acknowledge the company has problems, and their network uses the strange 850mhz. Anyway, the carrier crap they put on the phone will probably we rediculous, you’d be better off ordering from ANYONE else and using exetel

    @andrew

    Are you kidding? Telstra’s NextG network is renowned as the best mobile network in the world. 850Mhz for 3g is not “strange” – there are dozens of carriers using this frequency – iPhone has supported 850 from day 1!. Even Vodafone are deploying 850 Mhz 3G in Australia. Yes – their customer service sucks the big one sometimes but that is the same for most carriers.
