Release Dates For Galaxy Nexus Accessories Pushed Back Again

by Josh O'Donnell

Soon after the release of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus on December 15th, 2011, it was announced that some “official” accessories would soon be following. Some of these accessories included a charge able car dock with audio out, a desk stand with a 3.5mm headphone jack that would use the phones “3 gold dots” to charge and a desktop dock with HDMI-out.

If you’re a Galaxy Nexus user, you’ve surely been disappointed by the constant push-backs of the release date for these accessories. It appeared that the official release date for the car dock was today, but it’s been pushed back again to February 28th. Fortunately, the rest of the accessories retain their original release date of February 29th, and it seems to me this might actually be the reason the release date for the car dock was pushed back again, because I’m thinking they want to release them all as closely to each other as possible. This begs the question though, why release only one, just one day before the release of the others? Beats me.

I am disappointed with this phone period! This is my 2nd Android Phone and it is my 1st Samsung Product. The Galaxy Nexus has a design flaw. When the phone gets warm from running apps and put the curved screen into the mix, then the digitizer likes to crack under neath the glass. Samsung will not warranty this. They say it’s “physical damage” even though I have not done anything to cause physical damage to my phone. There is no external damage. Their warranty states that they will not cover any External Damage or Cosmetic damage which in this case the cracked digitizer is neither of those. They do not stand behind their products from manufacturer defects and design flaw.

I bake this phone with the charger on, GPS running, navigation, streaming music or on a phone call and as hot as it gets it has never cracked or groaned on me. I used to service Samsung TVs and they were one of the best companies for warranty work so I don’t agree with you in the least. Sorry you had a bad experience but maybe you just need to speak with the right person at Samsung.

Well this is from the email my pre-order supplier sent me:
“I have received some bad news from Samsung regarding the launch of the following products:

33499 – Genuine Samsung Galaxy Nexus Vehicle Dock – ECS-K1F2BEGSTD

33498 – Samsung Desk Stand for Galaxy Nexus – EDD-D1F2BEGSTD

33500 – Samsung Galaxy Nexus Desktop HDMI Dock – EDD-H1F2BEGSTD

Samsung have said; “Due to Google software issues the Galaxy Nexus accessories have no current launch date”.

As a consequence I have regrettably decided to cancel orders for these items, and to re-list them only when I have a confirmed release date. Any payments received will be re-funded forthwith.”

Personally I’ve cancelled my order and got a third party alternative that will take my GNex still in a case.

I got a Note and have the official desk dock, car dock and spare batter and charger. The Nexus was released here around the same time ss the Note (Europe) so I cannot understand why there is a delsy for the Nexus accessories.
