Well reports are coming in that more than a few lucky Sprint EVO 4G owners have actually begun receiving the Android 2.2 update! I gotta say it’s refreshing to see that when a manufacturer says something is going to happen, it actually does.

Have you gotten some sweet, sweet Froyo on your EVO yet? Let us know in the comments.

Wow the original Droid was supposed to receive Android 2.2 next after the nexus one… That goes to show you Verizon is the second worst carrier ever next to at&t & sprint is the best carrier ever.. Screw lying Verizon second worst carrier ever

My phone is currently installing the update… This would not be the first time Sprint beats the competition in the race of getting an update out to its phones. The Moment was the first ’1st gen’ phone to get 2.1 (officially).

I am very impressed on how fast Sprint decided to release the Froyo OTA update

Just finished my installation. Went very smooth and took only ten or fifteen minutes on 4G. All seems to be in order and working well. Thanks for the update HTC/Sprint! Pay attention to users for tweaks..

I got my update yesterday over Wi-Fi and it was great. It went fast and there were no issues with the process. The phone definitely seems faster. My only complaint is with video. Some of my 3gp vids saved to the SD card that played fine on Android 2.1 will not play anymore on 2.2 FroYo. Clicking on the details for the vids that now don’t play, the vids come up as mpg4 type, not 3gp. This is so frustrating! The thumbnail for the vids are now blank white with a broken symbol. Clicking to play the vids brings up the media player, but it immediately brings up the following message: “Cannot play video. Sorry, this video cannot be played.” I’ve done some searches and it looks like a lot of other users have been having the same problem with YouTube videos. All of the complaints for YouTube are centered around mpg4 videos. Let’s hope we see a fix for this soon!

I am also receiving the same message when trying to play videos off of Youtube. If I retry a few times most videos will play.

ok this is what i have found with the froyo 2.2 update with sprint, youtube videos some times wont play, i also noticed the 3g keeps turning on and off. so i went to settings for fun and turned 4g on, huh i have 4 g now. well turned that on and videos on youtube work great now, i guess if 4g works it keeps wanting to turn on 4g and shuts 3g off and is for some reason not able to turn on 4g automaticly when i sees theirs a 4g network, causing it to turn 3g on and off. try turning on 4g on and see if this fixes all of your problems, date posted 2010 oct 28
