HTC wants your EVO on official 2.2 update, pretty please

There was a leak last week of an unofficial 2.2 build for HTC Evo users. So what would any self respecting Evo hacker / owner do? Download and apply, my friend. HTC, however, wants you to come back to their decided natural order of things. Not too long after the unofficial update leaked, HTC’s official Twitter account stated:

Please be aware any update.zip floating around for EVO are not final and may cause problems. Official updates are coming OTA next week!

Now, today, there was another tweet, saying:

If you applied the unofficial EVO update, we are working to get you back on the official track. We will get back to you in the coming days

These announcements are coming on the edge of the official 2.2 rollout from HTC for the EVO, which is set to happen tomorrow.

How many of our EVO-touting readers are waiting for the official update, and who’s taking matters into their own hands? Let us know in the comments!

I have the unofficial release and don’t plan on loading the official one anytime soon. It’s not broke so why fix it?

I got the unofficial one and my battery life has sucked even worse than it was. I have a program called system and everytime I end things they all show back up. Other than that my phone is ok and it’s fast and i love 2.2 but would like the official one.

Update for unofficial to official 2.2 is here. Just go to settings, system updates, and htc update to install.
