T-Mobile USA plan to extend its range of Android devices into the home, with consumer devices that will include a home phone and a table computer.
According to confidential documents seen by the New York Times, T-Mobile’s Android powered data-enabled home phone will be followed by a 7-inch touchscreen tablet, with both devices scheduled for release in early 2010.
Details on the two devices are pretty scarce as you would expect. The Android home phone will apparently plug directly into a docking station for recharging, along with separate base station for data syncing.
The T-Mobile Android tablet is described as a small laptop device that doesn’t include a keyboard. The tablet will include a 7-inch touchscreen display.
According to the article in the NYT, alongside internet functionality, the tablet device will also likely act as a touchscreen remote for other devices in the home.
At present there is no information on pricing for either device, nor is there a definitive release date.
The Android home phone is expected to be released in Q1 of 2010, with the tablet PC release shortly after.
