Samsung Android Phone Revealed?

Samsung's first Android phone was revealed earlier today at a Samsung dealer show in Amsterdam. The upcoming handset is believed to include a capacitive touchscreen, 528MHz processor, and some substantial internal storage with microSD expansion available.

The Samsung Android phone will also (supposedly) have quad-band GSM, and will be available in UMTS 900 and UMTS 2100 for the US and European markets.

Samsung have yet to make an official public announcement regarding this handset.

  1. I think this platform could be a really good thing for Samsung. I have seen some of their recent phones and I haven’t been too impressed with the UI.

This will give them the chance to concentrate on the hardware and leave the rest up to the Android community.

  2. I thought UMTS 900/950 (along with 2100) was European, not US.

    US is 800/850 + 1900, isn’t it?

  3. It looks like the solar powered phone to me…

  4. looks like someone has taken android software and loaded it into the omnia (http://uk.samsungmobile.com/mobile-phone/SamsungOmnia-overview) or a very similar phone… i dont think samsung will launch an android based phone just yet… you should note the android is popular already as a transfer OS, as its easier to move around than the windows based platform.
