The biggest news I remember that related to Android during the 2010 CES trade show back in January were all the tablets being developed to take on the iPad. Luckily, for people like me, there were still many people that decided to keep tabs on some of the other great devices shown during the event, including three Android phones being created by a unique company called Lumigon. After seeing three very sexy looking phones back in January, not much was heard about the phones or the company, just the promise that one of there phones (T1) would be released sometime later in the fall. From the looks of Lumigon’s facebook page, they are coming through with that promise. The upcoming T1 is now set to have a release date on October 20 with preorders starting exactly a month before. The device will offer specs including:

  • Freescale 1GHz i.MX51 processor
  • Capacitive touchscreen display
  • Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth
  • A-GPS
  • 720p video output
  • HDMI output
  • Accelerometer
  • 5-megapixel autofocus camera with flash
  • 3.5mm audio jack
  • FM receiver
  • FM transmitter

There is one bit of sad news though. It seems like the phone will only be released with Android 2.1, while there is news that starting in August many phones will have updated to 2.2. For a phone to come out so late in the game, you would think Lumigon would at least give some details about an update after the release, but nothing has been mentioned by the company. Hopefully details of an update come out in the next couple months.

I will admit that this phone does look gorgeous, if the photoshopped image above is any indication of how the phone will look. I would like to get my hands on one to see how it feels, but without 2.2 it’s a little behind some of the other choices available. If you got your hands on the T1, would you keep it?
