T-Mobile MyTouch 4G owners are set to receive an update starting today. What does this update include, you ask? You’ll find the update not only includes an important Google security update, but a new version of Swype and other software improvements. The software update is OTA and will bring your phone software to version 2.32.531.1. T-Mobile highlights the OTA rollout will be complete by January 23, 2012.

While the update will be pushed automatically to the phones, it will also provide the manual instructions to users.  If you’re a MyTouch 4G owner, let us know if or when you receive the devices and let us know how it works out for you in the Comments section.

Updated pretty fast…new Swype is smoother and the microphone button is a little different..overall performance wise there r little speed differences…not exactly sure what the “Google Security Update” is

I just barely received my Gingerbread OTA update a week ago. Apparently, it also included the phone software update of 2.32.531.1. Honestly, I haven’t really noticed a whole lot of differences other than the Gingerbread changes: Notification screen has an extra tab, 4G listed instead of the letter H and an ‘Update Software” option under About Phone Settings.

Ok I got my update yesterday … It went rather smooth for me … Differences I see is the 2g 4g, Swype keyboard spells optional words and I like the Lil microphone … Don’t remember that being on my keyboard before, just my google … Some things like gallery looks different, the notifications screen, some icons are different like the internet and I never had a download app before … One thing I don’t is previously I was able to save photos that I received by text message … Now it doesn’t give me the option of save any pictures … But all in all I liked the phone before and I still like it after the update :-)

Got it today.  Nothing radical, but I like the additioin of quick settings to the pulldown menu, need one less widget on my home screen. I guess I’ll find other things as I continue to use the phone.  I’m very happy with this phone, hope the update has some enhancements.

I automatically received the update notification on my phone and promptly installed the new update. I am pleased with the minor changes… Especially the differences in Swype mode and the ready access of the microphone button. However, my wife has the exact same phone purchased on the exact same day over a year ago. She has yet to receive her software update notification. Does anyone know the steps I would take to manually install the update on her phone? I cannot seem to figure out hire to do this. Any help would be very appreciated.
