Nokia users want Android on their “ideal” Nokia phone

Nokia is conducting a rather interesting experiment over at their Conversations blog. They’ve asked their readers to submit a list of specs to their design team, from which the designers will design phones around. So let’s take a peak at their list of desired features:

Notice what it says next to OS? “Open source operating system with unlimited multitasking” That sounds kinda familiar doesn’t it? And if you think those features above look good, wait until you see the phones that Nokia designers have come up with, they’re pretty attractive in my opinion: (click on each image to enlarge it)

WTF Do you have your head stuck up your ass?

“Open source operating system with unlimited multitasking” Only means Android if it was actually open-source, meaning open while developing and that is not the case now is it? And unlimited multitasking not meaning a system that closes your running app when it feels like it – like Android. No it naturly means either Symbian or Meego that is just that. It for sure does not mean Android as it is mentioned no where!

It means Android but Nokia wants to see ‘Symbian or Meego’. I think you’re not correct Peter…

Where do you read Android Marcos?
And what planet do you live on if you think Android is the only open-source multitasking smartphone system?

I think most people the Converation blog are Nokia, Symbian or Meego fans so I think only very few people giving inputs here whants to see Android on a Nokia phone.

I never thought it would happen but it seems like some Android fanboys are just as thick-headed as the worst Apple fanboys!

    OK.

It means MeeGo to Nokia, though probably Android to a lot of people who selected it.

  • Peter

    Any why is that Rich?

It seems only to be Americans that think the only open-source smartphone operating systems is Android. Most people outside USA seems to know better. And since Nokia is not very popular in USA it is most likely mostly non-americans who visit the Conversations blog. So why do you think people have thought about Android Rich?

  • Marcos G.

It seems that you have a problem with Android. Nokia wants to see Symbian or Meego. But users HATE Symbian and they don’t know anything about Meego. So, as they did say that they are not going to put Android in any device, I don’t think this will be the ‘perfect’ phone.

I’m not in USA, and I would have thought Android first from that description. I think that becuase Android is the OS everyone’s talking about. Just the other day in my office (not a tech company), there was a big Android vs iPhone debate. Never heard of that with symbian or MeeGo. More people know about Android than any other mobile OS. That’s my reasoning :)

PS calm down! This is an Android site, we all think Android first even if you don’t :)

So you are saying Marcos that 40% (Symbian smartphone marketshare) of the worlds smartphone owners hate their phones!? Im sorry but that to me seems a little narrow minded to say that.

I do agree with your reasoning Rich and if the Conversations blog had asked people on the street Android would probably have been the answer. But they asked their followers and has got to be mainly people inerested in and knowledgeble about Nokia, Symbian or Meego. In that area all the hype bugs me a little bit. Symbian is in many areas more feature rich than Android. Unfortunately it is slow, not user friendly and has a sad UI.

I do not hate Android at all (I may hate Apple though :-) ), in fact I think it the most interessting OS right now. This is why I follow this page. I actually think my next phone will be an Android, but I am still a little in doubt that Android will be able to do all the things I use my Symbian phone for.

I know this is a Android site and I will calm down :-) I just bugs me to see Android fans indicate that they are the only ones in the world like I hate about many Apple fanboys.
