Skype Updated To Version 2.6, Brings Video Calling Support For 3 New Devices

Skype has just announced a major update to the Android application. The update known as version 2.6, brings not only minor bug fixes, but also the the ability to share photos, video and files to those on your contact list. All of this can be done over 3G or WiFi! Very impressive indeed. Oh there’s more too– if you’re an owner of a Tegra 2 device like I am, you can look forward to improved video quality and battery life while using the app. Oh and of course the engineers at Skype added video support for some new devices too. Owners of the HTC Amaze 4G, Motorola DROID 4 and Motorola DROID RAZR should now be able to make video calls without hassle– but Skype does highlight “almost anyone with a Froyo (Android 2.2) device or above should be able to make video calls” as well.

The Skype 2.6 update is available in the Android Market today. You can find the QR code and Android Market link below.

My only issue is that it only supported BACK camera use instead of being able to select the FRONT camera (which makes 99.999% more sense).  If they fix THAT issue, then I’ll re-install it.  Other wise, it’s a waste and Qik Video will be my video conference tool of choice.
