I've written an application that monitors services on remote servers. It is called "Service Monitor".

I have a useful app for checking connectivity out to the Internet. The Firebind app will run TCP or UDP send and echo payloads to see if any particular port is open, and traffic is being passed by the firewall.

Search for firebind on the android market.

@Renet
I though about Dropbox as well, and while I use it the 2GB file cap turned me away from it. I know you can pay for more but with my FTP server I have 2TB of space I can store and retrieve files from. I appreciate the mention though. One thing I found Dropbox useful for is to transfer APK files from my desktop to my phone for quick installation. :)

Connectbot .. very nice.. I had been looking for something like this for a while.. just didnt have the time to go through all the apps in the market that look like they could do it!
