According to reports from Validas, it looks like the “can you hear me” guy may actually spend more time asking the infamous question via twitter than over a phone call. The company found that the average smartphone user on Verizon uses about 421 MB of data per month, compared to the 338 MB of data being used by Apple’s iPhone clients.
With the expansion of the Droid family by Big Red, this writer doesn’t find this news particularly surprising. According to Ed Finegold, Exec. VP for Validas, “the key detail in this study that drives the average is that, by percentage, nearly twice as many Verizon Wireless smartphone users are consuming 500 megabytes to 1 gigabyte per month compared to AT&T iPhone users. More than 11% of [Verizon] smartphone users fall into this category, versus just 5.6% of iPhone users.”
