Over at the Android Developer website, there’s an updated pie graph (pie, eclair… I’m getting hungry) that shows Android 2.1 taking up 55.5% of Android platforms on mobile devices. Donut (1.6) is falling in at 22.1%, followed in third place by Cupcake (1.5) at 18.9%. Froyo, or 2.2, is taking up only 3.3% of the platform share.
As you can see, the fragmentation still exists in a large way, but hopefully this is proof of a move toward gathering all that fragmentation up and coming up with a more universal solution for Android users.
