Well this isn’t good. According to numerous Droid X owners, their new, beloved phones are experiencing rapid flickering and vertical banding all over or part of their screen. Supposedly some users have already had their phones replaced. Check out these user-made videos:

It’s not clear on how widespread this problem is, but hopefully it’s isolated. Are you a Droid X user? Are you having any issues with your device? Let us know in the comments.

I have a very very quick 1-2 sec flicker like this. happened after about 2 days of heavy use and installing apps like a madman. once I ran a task killer my phone ran better and never experienced anymore lag or flicker

I ordered my Droid X on Friday, and had some Fed Ex issues today… but I went and picked it up. I took it to the nearest verizon store (I wanted a case, a new bluetooth device, and to update my contacts from my old phone).

As soon as we turned it on and updated the contacts, it started flickering. I showed the clerk and he told me to take the battery out. We restarted it again and then the screen started scrolling and flickering like crazy. I didn’t even make it out of the store. They didn’t have any more Droid X’s in stock, so I had to take it home and call Verizon.

After 2 hours of jumping through hoops, and them insisting that they could fix it by talking me through it over the phone, I insisted that they send me a new one. They’re sending me a new one, but it won’t be here until August 3rd (which is ridiculous!)

So, I had to reactivate my 4 year old, broken, LG Chocolate and I guess i’m stuck with that for the next few weeks. I’m not happy.

I have not had any such issues with my Droid X, however I have had some freeze ups after installing certain apps. Nothing like those videos though

I have the same issues withth e vertial banding. How disappointing. I understand defects happen, but Verizon’s service in light on the issue has been very poor. First of all when I called last night, the 4 different customer service reps acted like they did not know that there were any problems with the droid x. Obviously that is not accuate given all the people expereincing the same issue. Sorry Verizon, your plan to deny that problem exists is the wrong customer serivce stategy. Finally when you know you contracted with a manufacturer who has put out a faulty product, it should be your goal to try to get the problem fixed asap. This waiting is ridiculous. While I am waiting, I will be shopping around for another service provider who actually likes to provide service

I recieved my Droid X last week. When I turned it on, the flickers starts with the horizontal white strips. It makes the screen unreadable. However, if I leave it on for a while, it would go away. Though, everytime when the screen turns off, the horizontal white stripes appears again.

So, I called verizon about this issue and the rep said that a new one will be sent to me. Though, I have to wait additional 3 weeks.

My droid x just died. The lower half of the screen is now a bunch of streaks, and black.
