Sony Ericsson Rolls Out Gingerbread 2.3.4 For All Countries

Owners of Sony Ericsson devices rejoice! We mentioned previously that a few lucky owners in the Nordic/Dutch region receiving the Gingerbread 2.3 update. The moment the rest of you have been waiting for is finally here with SE rolling out the coveted Gingerbread update to the rest of the owners around the world. Owners of SE devices (which will include the Xperia Arc, Play, Neo, and so on) can look forward to some noteworthy features with the update:

  • Google Talk with Video Chat
  • 3D Sweep Panorama functionality (3D pictures!!!)
  • 16X video zoom
  • Swipe
  • Screen Capture
  • Small UI changes (folders, icons, etc.)

Better late than never right? Some owners may have received the update already. If you haven’t yet, be sure to check by going to your Menu –> Settings –> About Phone –> Software Update. No luck with that as well you say? Just be patient and the update should be pushed to your phone sooner than later.     It’s not quite a simple as that – individual service providers will need to “allow” the update for their customers…

    Users of “generic” Xperia 2011 smartphones should see the update already, but anyone with a branded (service provider-specific) Xperia 2011 smartphone will need to wait until their service provider makes the update available to them.
