ViewSonic ViewPad 7e Priced to Compete With Kindle Fire, Landing This Month

Look out Kindle Fire, the ViewSonic ViewPad 7e is about to drop this month and with the exact same price of $199.99. Last time we touched on the ViewSonic ViewPad 7e, we didn’t really know that much about it. Now do we not only have a full spec run down, we have a release time-frame to boot.

The device has an “E” at the end of it’s name designating it as the Entry-level tablet offered by ViewSonic. Once you get an idea of the specs it has, you might still think that it is very Entry-level like, but either way, it is still quite a bargain. With a 3D UI designed by the folks who made the SPB Shell 3D Android launcher, the device runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and has a 1GHz single-core processor with a 7″ display.

There is a microHDMI port that transfers 1080p quality video and the tablet has a 3mp camera on back with a 0.3 mp camera up front. Internal memory is 4GB but there is a microSD card slot that is expandable to 32GB of storage. ViewSonic has include the new “AirSync” program that promises to keep the device up to date via OTA upgrades via the built in Wi-Fi connectivity. Not too shabby for a device that costs half that of other popular tablets that are currently on the market.

Again the price will only be $199.99 and it should be available here in the U.S. starting in the end of October. Latin America is up next on the roll-out release and is slated to see the economical 7″ tablet sometime in November, an exact date has yet to be confirmed.

Full Press Release after the break.
