Verizon going 4G? That’s what it looks like

Well this is an interesting bit of news. Just yesterday we reported how Sprint was considering merging with T-Mobile, but only if they upgraded their network. Well it now appears Verizon has its own plans for 4G and will be issuing a system update to all Verizon Wireless systems on July 18th. So what does this mean? Well in theory it means that we should be on the lookout for some 4G phones from big red, but obviously the network would have to be in place to support it.

Do you think Verizon will “do” 4G better than Sprint? Let us know in the comments

They’ve got some catching up to do.

Are you stupid or just slow? Verizon’s been announced they’ll launch 4G before the end of this year. This is just proof that devices are close to being launched.

I hope so, I feel the need for speed.

It’s not a matter of thinking if VZW 4G will be better or not its fact thats why most of the cell companies plan to use LTE and not WiMax

Its more like we know they will be at least up to par and we know they will release it in more markets. Thats just what they do.

beenswank Says “…catching up to do…” There’s no catching up to do. I mean “oh my god” sprint has 4G in Yakima Washington? WOW THAT’S IMPRESSIVE.

Sprint’s and T-Mobile both are going to go the way of MTA. Who’s MTA? Yeah, that’s what they’ll be asking in another ten years, “Sprint who?” Can we say Cellular One or even Cingular?
