Unpopular Changes Coming To Sprint’s Premier Program and More According To Playbook

Under the guise of remaining competitive with Verizon and AT&T, Sprint has a hoard of changes that will affect their Premier program, return policy and even those special perks their customers have come to love. The Sprint Playbook seems to brace employees for an understandably upset customer base and coaches them to relay how Sprint “strive(s) to give customers what they want most and sometimes that also means eliminating things that are enjoyed only by a few.”

The eliminations begin with the Sprint Premier program, of which enrollment has already stopped and existing members will begin hearing from Sprint with more details in a few days. Furthermore, members will have to use their final Premier upgrade on or before December 31, 2012 and can say good-bye to those neat accessory discounts and annual anniversary gifts at the end of 2011. So much for loyalty.

Sprint’s also trimming their 30-day satisfaction guarantee to a 14-day return policy and their “New For You” upgrade time frame from 22 months to 20; the latter of which begins October 2nd, though it provides little comfort compared to the substantial discontinuations.

While some customers are more understanding of the new changes than others, many are left with a bad taste in their mouths and are disappointed in the loss of the very incentives that have kept them loyal to Sprint up to this point.

Well I’ve already been hit once with their “strive” when my yearly upgrade was zapped to 22 months because nearly 6 years of putting up with crappy customer service wasn’t enough loyalty for them. So that put me from gold to silver. Now it looks like they want to give everyone a reason to look elsewhere. I guess getting an iPhone makes them feel bullet proof. It’s really bad that our choices of where to go are dwindling. AT&T bad network, Verizon to expensive. T-Mo will likely still be swallowed up by AT&T so that’s not a choice. All the whining about how unfair this merger is to them, yet Sprint is going out of it’s way to make itself look less and less attractive to new and existing customers.

Bye-bye sprint. Annual upgrades as gold premier were my big incentive to stay. but their 4g sucks and their phone selection is limited. Hello big V.

AdamVM hit the nail right on the head – the choices we have as consumers suck and the FCC really needs to look into the screwing were getting by all the carriers with loss of benefits, higher prices, crappy networks, higher disconnect fees, super high fees for data, less days to decide whether you like the phone/service – etc.

Basically it is boiling down for all companies that the US govt doesn’t give a crap about the consumer – in fact with the lobbyists they are in cahoots just to make the companies and their CEOs more money. We as a country have really no representation in Congress that truly is protecting our getting screwed every which way we turn – in every industry – including wireless.

Yep, they have made my decision i’ve been trying to make for a couple years now. after 10 years of being their customer……. i should have left a long time ago. i just talked with their c.s. dept, and they said all the perks for “loyalty premier ” are a great benefit, etc etc etc…. and tried to convince me how great it is….. but never said it was going away at the end of the year… hmmmm, my contract is up again in oct..,.. and guess they want the renewal before i found out eh??? lol…. well, no way jose’ after 10 yrs you’d think u wouldn’t have to sign a contract with ANY CARRIER again for crap sake. THEY should have to sign a contract with the customer. instead its a royal PITA as usual…. Thanks for your loyalty sprint…… your customers appreciate it….

The FCC has been corrupted and paid off for years by these companies so don’t look to another broken government agency to do anything. The U.S. has the HIGHEST rates across the board and the worst service in any developed country. I have been with Sprint for 5 years-we have 2 Blackberry Styles, Unlimited D

The FCC has been corrupted and paid off for years by these companies so don’t look to another broken government agency to do anything. The U.S. has the HIGHEST rates across the board and the worst service in any developed country. I have been with Sprint for 5 years-we have 2 Blackberry Styles, Unlimited Data all along. I have experienced decent customer service as Premier Customer. I knew the minute I heard Apple was dumping the new iPhone with Sprint it was over. Very over.
Been looking for an option since. I WILL demand they null and void my contract since they are changing an agreement mid term. I will take it all the way to court too if need be. The FCC is as dirty and broken as the SEC.

Boy!!! Do I agree with Geena.. I really got swindled into Sprint’s mess… I’ve been a contracted customer of theirs since spring 2001 and this is the way they treat good paying people!!! JUST (Aug 2011) signed a new contract for 2 yrs because of wanting a very simple android phone..Upgrade was free because of the time I continued to be a loyal customer for years WITHOUT a contract. So NOW, bite us all in the butt and shove your new deal down our throat!!! NOT happening here!! I WILL VOID this new CONTRACT agreement from SPRINT, due to them breaking their AGREEMENT!!!! CHOKE on this one SPRINT!!!
