Make it rain, money

A recent study by Research2Guidance looked at 26 app categories in the Android Market to see which was most profitable. Despite the fact that one quarter of all Android apps downloaded are games, weather apps showed themselves to be by far the biggest earners for their developers. On average, the weather app has made its developer $21,000! Business and productivity apps were the closest contenders while multimedia and comic book apps made almost no return. Well developers, it looks like Android users are more interested in using their phone as a tool than an entertainment device.
