‘Jelly Bean’ May Be Next Name Used For Android After Ice Cream Sandwich

While we haven’t even gotten any firm details on Ice Cream Sandwich which will possibly hit next month, ThisIsMyNext is already reporting on the next version of Android, code named ‘Jelly Bean’. There isn’t a version number mentioned as expected since we don’t even have that for ICS just yet.

What’s a little disturbing about the report is that their source says the “game-changing stuff” originally set for ICS is being postponed and will be implemented in JB. We shouldn’t get too up in arms over this because we have no idea what features the source is even talking about here. Beyond the fact that ICS is supposed to unite tablets and smartphones OS wise and may not have any hardware buttons, that’s all we really know. The source did go on to mention that ICS will not just be a small update as Gingerbread was, but rather a “big-time” release. It’s stated there are major architectural, functional, and design changes in ICS, but I’d say there would be quite a fuss risen by the Android community if there wasn’t. All of this is hanging out in rumorville right now, but let’s hope we get some solid details in Oct or Nov before ICS is ready to hit. Hit us up with your thoughts.
