Appbrain Adds Ability to Remote Install Apps

Appbrain has been a popular market substitute for a long time. It allows browsing the market from the computer or via an alternate app installed on an Android phone. And its capabilities just got better.

Now, while viewing an app on the appbrain market site, you can click “install” and it will queue that app up for install the next time you sync the service on your phone.  You do still have to initiate it phone-side, which is the only small drawback, but this does allow you to do your searching and selecting on your PC, and then have your phone automagically go get all those apps you decided you wanted.

My question is this: Since it syncs via your Google account, wouldn’t it also serve to reinstall all your apps after a hard reset?  Or maybe a phone replacement?  I haven’t tested these yet, but it seems logical to me that it would.  If you have used this service in that way, be sure and let us know in the comments!

I should add, as I use this more, that when you pick up your phone to do the installs, it takes you from app to app in the actual market and you have to click install on each one. Still very handy, but it does not work quite like I originally thought.

If you download the Fast Web Installer add-on app then there is no need to sync. You simply click install on the AppBrain webpage and the app is automatically downloaded to your mobile. Really handy.
