Acer Iconia A500 3.2 update now moved to September 10th

A friend of mine has the Iconia A500 and loves it. As a Xoom owner, I have to say that the larger bezel and full size usb of the Iconia are functional attractors, but he’s always had to look on enviously at my up to date Honeycomb. Acer told us the Iconia would receive Honeycomb 3.2 by August 25th, but they only pushed out a GPS fix. Buddy if you’re reading this perhaps you feel a bit downtrodden right now. Well I have news for you! Look forward to September 10th. Acer posted this on their Malaysia Facebook page:

Dear fans, we sincerely apologize for the delayed release of the 3.2 update for Acer Iconia Tab A500. We’ve just received news today that there have been some issues with the GPS settings therefore the 3.2 update will be rescheduled to 10th of September. We will update again if earlier, we hope to provide all our end users a stable and problem-free OS. Thanks for your continuous support and understanding.

There you have it. At least Acer is committed to a release without bugs.

    Their Facebook page also commented in their original post about it being released on Aug 25th that the date was for Malaysia and that they didn’t have info on the release date for Europe or the US :/

    Yes Netflix is supposed to work with the update! I can’t wait, cause right now I can only watch my Netflix on my Galaxy S 4G :( which I guess isn’t the end of the world but it was still a major incentive.

    FYI Amazon Prime works perfectly fine on the tablet :)

    “Dear fans, many of you asked for the release of the Honeycomb 3.2 update for Acer ICONIA TAB A500/A501. We’ve just received confirmation today that the update will start from mid of September to the end of the month depending on the product models and countries. We wanted to provide a stable and problem-free OS to our customers. Stay tuned. We will keep you posted!”

    just got 3.2 tonight. In NB, Canada.

    Seems like a vast speed increase so far if nothing else.
    havent had much time to test as i just stuck an invisisheild to it.

    Hi, I am in australia, is there a trick to installing the update? I have downloaded it 3 times and it just won’t install. Is there an icon that it creates to do the install of update? My phone installs it as soon as the download completes. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

      I had problems too.
      Then I took the micro sd card out and backed up all my pictures/movies/music etc.
      Then I did a factory reset.
      Then the upadate downloaded and installed perfectly.
      The only prob is that you then have to install all your apps again.

    All i get is system update is invalid. I have downloaded this so many times now this is really jacking me off. Why is it an invalid update. Only had the tablet for 2 weeks unmodified.

    it should start up automatically after the download.. it’s big 350MB I recall…. if it doesn’t start.. fire up the ‘settings’ and go to manage apps.. show downloaded and go from there.

    I just bought the Acer Iconia a500 on September 23, 2011. Just after buying it it said that it had an update. A 356.63 Mega bite. I am having a lot of problems with the update. It stops in the middle of a download, and when I leave it alone the whole time it downloads the whole thing and doesn’t do anything with it.

    PLEASE HELP!!!

    P.S.
    Other than that its a beautiful machine. I love it.

      I know this is an older post but I’ve been searching for information on this update and saw your comment. I just bought an acer a500 and I’ve downloaded the update numerous times and I’m having the same problems as you. It’ll either stop in the middle or finish completely and just disappear. Did you ever figure out what to do to fix it?

    Im in california. Its the 26th. Still no update and acer is completely silent. Shouldve got the asus transformer.

    Hi Nicholas, I had to backup all my stuff and do a system factory reset and then the update re downloaded and self installed, I did have problems before i did the factory reset. Yes i agree with you its a fantastic machine.

    If acer is taking this long to release android 3.2 in the US, how long will we have to wait for Ice Cream Sandwich? They promise august 25, then september 10 and now theres no real official day for the update. Acer, I will never buy another one of your products.

    Hi all, Just wanted to let y’all know that I received the 3.2 update today. I’m in Texas, not sure if that helps any. The installation went pretty smooth, I had to unroot first though.
