And while you can’t get that scrumptious GSII pastry quite yet, that creamy Gingerbread filling is baked and ready for adventurous users of the Captivate, courtesy of XDA. Hungry for more? Just hit up the link below and make sure to tell us in the comments how it’s treating you.

Seems pretty solid, only force close is the tethering package.

when on WIFI, both the 3g and the wifi icon are displayed in the status bar, but still uses wifi. not really an issue as far as im concerned.

    BATTERY LIFE IS AMAZING!!!!

i think the reason for the delayed release of this is because of the APPLE/SAMSUNG battle. With this this release, the message icon has a ltitle circle with a number in it indicating the number of unread messages, looks almost EXACTLY like apples design. Also, the way the screen does a quick zoom then fades to show the app menu, once again just like apple.

with that being said, i have also heard that canada has seen the roll out of gingerbread, but ROGERS does not require a separate plan for tethering. this also could be a reason for the delay here in the states…

I’ve heard that when you update it to 2.3 using these methods, the camera and buttons on the side of the phone don’t work. Is this true, or has it been fixed already?

I installed 2.3.3 and rooted my captivate and now can not make a 3g connection.  Any suggestions.
