With the shortages of the AMOLED displays, consumers are forced now to wait even longer for their pre-order of the HTC Droid Incredible. According to Verizon’s website the device will now be delayed past the previous date July 28th to August 3rd. I really can’t say I’m surprised to see the date pushed back since we have seen it happen before but I can say as a consumer it is getting old now.
Verizon did announce recently that they were going to compensate pre-order holders who are patient with a $25 gift card. Buzz is that HTC will be switching to another screen for the Incredible but it is not known what type. Maybe no more AMOLED for their phones for the time being would be a smart move.
With the launch of the Motorola Droid X coming up in a little over a week, I am curious if any Incredible pre-order holders will be switching to it or another phone. I for a while, wanted the Droid Incredible as an upgrade from my original Droid but never got my hands on one because of the shortage. I am seriously considering the Droid X as well so this might be a big sales blow to HTC and a boost for Motorola.
