Qualcomm it seems is trying to enter the mobile gaming market swinging. The tech giant has put out a press release detailing and demonstrating the ins and outs of their new “Augmented Reality” technology, which can turn a napkin into an arena. Qualcomm is also trying to pioneer cross platform gaming, which they claim is necessary to make some games financially viable. Just check out the video:
In the same press release Qualcomm announced a $200,000 developer prize for those who chose to develop with the new AR technology, as well as announcing the release of a free SDK to be available for use on the same day the contest kicks off.
It looks like Qualcomm means business with the mobile gaming market. With new technology backed by a 200,00 prize and a free SDK, it should be interesting to see what happens.
