Is Apple making way for more Android sales? No restocking fee for iPhone 4 returns

Restocking fee

With so many disgruntled Apple followers and lawsuits now looming over them, Apple is making a move to “curve” the hurt that customers are feeling. They are currently allowing IPhone 4 owners who are not happy with their purchase the ability to return their phones without having to pony up the normal 10% restocking fee. What does this mean for some of the owners who took a chance on Apple? Maybe they will turn to the aging and outdated 3GS or even better yet they might even cross to the dark side of the Android world.

It will be interesting to see how this pans out with the way Apple let so many down. I would like to see how many actually do switch to Android based phones because of this. If anything else this is a big blow to Apple and a win for the Android community. What is your take on the situation?

I am one of these. i switched to HTC Aria. It’s a lovely small but powerful phone and I love it so much. (I don’t care about the out-of-marker app restriction. Android market is sufficient for me.)

They are doing this so that they can have refurbed devices available. No one really wants to trade an iPhone 4 for an android do they? I wouldn’t give up my iPhone 4 for a $thousand.

@Xsn0w Three good friends of mine just switched from iPhone to Android. Two of them got in line and got iPhone 4′s, returned them within 7 days, dropped their contract with AT&T. One bought an EVO 4G, the other a Moto DROID and my other buddy is buying an Aria cause he cant get out of his AT&T deal. So please, keep your iPhone 4, we don’t want you trolling around the Android community anyhow.

I just hope they’d hurry up with froyo/flash. Lots of people will switch when they can only have half the website on an iphone and the full website on android.

You know, I don’t think this will be that dramatic or That big of a deal, to be honest. People are overestimating the flaw in the new iphone – its still an incredible device. Don’t get me wrong – I love my evo (currently using it for this comment), but if you weigh the improvements and faults on the new iphone, its still a revolutionary device that will keep the android market on it’s toes. Until froyo becomes fairly standard for android phones, I’d say they have the best OS out there now, actually…

    Just my thoughts.

I have a n1 now. I had a g1 on release day. So I’ve been with android through all of it’s growing pains. I think that like wise a lot of Iphone users will stay through the current problems. I don’t care if they come over to android at all anyway.I’m sick if them coming on forums crying about what there iphone used to do without even learning to use their android.

I turned in my iPhone 4G for a HTC EVO.
It does everything my 3GS and 4G did only faster!
    I couldn’t be happier. :-)

Jeff we’re not talking about a few dead pixels or some glue that wasn’t completely dry. The antenna isn’t insulated and this was by design!

Must agree with John. I don’t want iPhone crying users who would probably won’t even bother, good willingly, try their Android phone and all they will end up doing will be making stupid quotes of how good their iPhone was because they just did not bother…
Most of then have a bitten apple instead of a brain so what they get from the company is what they deserve…
