Droid X bug fix is now live

by Robert Nazarian

Three months ago the Gingerbread update went live for the Droid X, and it should have brought joy. Instead it brought nothing but bugs and frustration. The wait for a fix is finally over as Motorola and Verizon Wireless released the bug fix update. Just hit the Menu/Settings/About Phone/System Updates and you should be able to download it (version 4.5.602.MB810.Verizon.en.US). It is time to go back to loving your X. Please let us know how the update is working for you in the comments.

i want to thank motorola for screwing up gingerbread so bad that i was able to force myself to put cyanogen on my X.

my phone has never been so awesome…. and motorola should be ashamed and embarrassed with itself for delivering something so horrible.

just go vanilla if you are going to screw things up so bad by your ‘differentiation’. i don’t think ‘differentiating’ yourself with garbage is good for your company.

No update for me in SoCal. I’m on 4.5.588MB810.Verizon.en.US and clicking on “system updates” tells me my phone is up to date and ?No update is necessary at this time”.

The update is available for me, but the install fails every time I try it. I’m running pure stock software, no rooting.

Just updated mine about 30 min ago. Will see how it works and hopefully the bugs are fixed.

I still have the car dock bug where the phone gets stuck in speakerphone mode upon removing it (this seems to be after you play audio through the AUX jack while in dock).

Nice update. Overall, the phone runs much much better!

I was having no issues before the update yesterday. Now my phone sucks. Exchange isn’t working (wasn’t that a fix!!), web is way slower, calls dropped, network switches from non-existent to 1X to 3G constantly, screen shuts off. Pissed.

I updated to this new system a few days ago and now “coincidently” My wife’s calendar SINCE that date no longer shows on my Droid X. I can see it on Gmail online but not on my phone. Her entries before that date show up fine. It is set for sync and view, but no luck.

Updated originally and applied the “bug fix” when it first came out. Phone is a mess. Will not turn off and the only way to shut it down is to pull the battery. Way too much bloatware. This is my last droid phone.
