Google to Discontinue the App Inventor

With the exit of Google Labs, Google today announced that they will also discontinue the App Inventor. Because of the App Inventor’s success in fields of education, Google will open source the code to anyone that would pick up the project.

App Inventor was an excellent tool for non-developers, giving your everyday user the ability to create simple apps, games, and more. We’re sad to see it go, but hopeful that the open source community will be able to provide us with even more updates and features.

Google tells us that the App Inventor URL will soon change, but you can subscribe to any future updates via the App Inventor Announcement forum.
