Huawei Technologies have confirmed that their Android-based phones will be made available to Australian telecommunications companies by the third quarter of 2009.

A Huawei spokesperson told ZDNet.com.au:

"Huawei can confirm that their first Android smartphone is scheduled to launch in the third quarter of 2009. Huawei's smartphones can be ordered and developed for Australian operators based on any such requests."

Huawei Technologies were one of fourteen new companies to announce their official partnership with Google's Open Handset Alliance last week.
