HTC Evo OTA update now available – again

There were widespread reports of yesterday’s OTA update for the HTC Evo being able to brick the phones they were installed on. Granted, the general consensus was that, once the update was applied, you would have to go straight back to the update screen and check for updates again, but there should always be safeguards against user error.

So, HTC and Sprint yanked the update from the servers, fixed it up, and have released the OTA update again. The update this time is bigger in size (30mb now compared to 21mb yesterday), and should fix any of these issues.

The instructions for the update are the same as any other OTA update: go to Settings > System Update > HTC Update.

If you try this update, let us know how it goes in the comments!

Thanks to everyone who sent this in

Downloaded the new update last night, didn’t brick my phone but messed all of my widgets up on my screens, had to wipe them all off and place them back on home screens ? Very weird !

Downloaded the update last night without any problems. In fact today is the first day since I’ve had the phone that the battery has lasted all day. Took it off the charger at 6 am and its almost 9 pm and still going strong. Very happy about that.
