Samsung just announced via Twitter that all the phones in their Galaxy S line (AT&T Captivate, T-Mobile Vibrant, Verizon Fascinate, and the Sprint Epic, sporting the keyboard) will be launching with Android 2.1, but will be upgraded to 2.2. For those who haven’t been following along, Android 2.2, or Froyo, is the newest version, releasing now for the Nexus One, which, along with various tweaks under the hood to improve speed, also support Adobe Flash 10.1.
Only Sprint has given a timetable for the Froyo update, and even that is only considered as “soon after release,” but I suspect that none of the carriers will be lagging too far behind, even if they have not expressly said so.
The Galaxy S line looks like it’s going to be a very hot line of phones, and this certainly just adds fuel to that fire.
