Verizon Wireless Motorola XOOM 3G will finally receive LTE upgrade this September

The LTE upgrade passed through the FCC recently, and it looks like Motorola will finally begin the upgrade to LTE for the Verizon Wireless XOOM 3G. Make your plans to part with your XOOM sometime in September as internal documents and emails to customers are confirming that the end to this saga is near.

This was originally promised for the summer, but everything went wrong for Motorola as the Bionic was also delayed. Nobody knows exactly what happened, but the fact that the NVIDIA Terga 2 is in the XOOM, and was in the original Bionic, leads me to believe that it was the issue. Motorola has switched to Texas Instruments with the Bionic, and their next rumored beast, the Dinara, looks to have a TI chip as well. The XOOM was going to be Verizon’s 1st LTE tablet, but the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE ends up with the crown because it launches tomorrow.

One more picture after the break.

All i can say is WOW, we were supposed to get this upgrade 3 months after it came out in February. I bought it on launch day and supported moto from the beginning giving the benefit of the doubt, but they royaly screwed us on this one. SEPTEMBER?!?! REALLY? WTF is going on here. I’m really to the point of selling it or trying to get my money back for false advertisement . Damn, the galaxy tab 10.1 is coming to Verizon with LTE already so it can’t be that hard if Samsung is doing it. But what should I expect, moto can’t even launch the bionic, I assuming its for the same reason that they can’t put LTE into the xoom until september is why the bionic isn’t launching until September. Something about moto making their own chips….
