Google Documents Viewer available on Android

Google has announced via their blogs that the Google Documents viewer has released a mobile version that will allow you to view any documents, spreadsheets, or pdf files that you have uploaded to Google Docs right from your phone’s browser.

While this service will not allow you to edit your documents, let’s be honest — your phone isn’t the best device to do that, anyway.  The viewer is very usable, though, and allows you to take your documents with you wherever you go.

what about your android tablet or netbook? If google wants android to be everywhere, it will need PC quality apps and not just ‘lite’ dumbed down versions for 3.5″ screens.

That’s true, but as yet there isn’t an Android tablet out. They may be working on an editor for something like that.

At the very least, I am happy to see them taking this as a first step. We’l see what else they enable.
