A few weeks ago, the world saw a leak of the iRiver MX100, and didn’t quite know what to think. Today, more info leaks, and the confusion is no clearer. Apparently, the tablet will have a little smartphone brother, and we’ve got the scoop. The tablet will be dubbed “Vanilla”, while the smartphone will have the wildly outrageous name “Vanilla”. Having trouble picking up on the sarcasm? That’s okay… we’ll wait.
Both devices will have Android 2.2… that’s right, folks… last year’s latest and greatest. The specs aren’t exactly dressed to impress either, with the tablet sporting a 7-inch LCD and a 1GHz Hummingbird CPU, along with a 5MP camera and up to 32GB of expandable storage. Oh, and Bluetooth, as well. The Vanilla phone, however, takes up the rear in the specs race with a 3.5″ QVGA LCD display, wifi, GPS, bluetooth, and a whopping 4GB of storage. Processor? Yeah, we’d like to know, too.
So, folks, it looks like iRiver won’t be wowing any crowds with these new devices, but I don’t suppose that’s what anyone was expecting in the first place. Be sure to sound off with your opinions in the comments.
