It’s official. The Droid X is available for pre-order at your local Best Buy as of today. Best Buy is offering the phone a little differently than Verizon is, you can pre-order the phone for $50 and pay the other $150 when you go in to pick it up. $200 flat, no rebates, no gimmicks! I headed over to my Best Buy this morning and got the top spot on the pre-order list. If you are serious about wanting the Droid X and want to avoid camping out, get to your Best Buy ASAP and reserve yours now!

For me, the Droid X will be the phone to beat on Verizon until Q4 for a few reasons, namely the huge screen and the slim profile. I am pretty excited about the integrated HDMI, and I love the camera, but being able to have a phone with a screen that beats out even some of the dedicated GPS units out there is a big draw for me. The thought of syncing my phone with my car streaming Pandora, Grooveshark, Slacker, etc. while getting turn by turn directions, and being able to take a break and make a phone call all on the same unit is a very happy one for me. The next stop after picking up my brand spanking new Droid will be a look at the accessory aisle. I’m liking the looks of the car mount, and I am almost positive I’ll be wanting the extended batteries. But what about you? What will be the features and accessories you will be most looking forward to? Let me know in the comments!

Thanks for the tips guys!

uh, please enlighten me as to what the phone to beat will be in q4 on verizon.

The 2GHz Moto phone will probably squash everything currently in its path when it comes out in time for the holiday season.

I don’t know why I thought he said “wants”, not “plans” to have a 2ghz smartphone out in 2010. I mean, I know it’s coming, just as HTC will hopefully be releasing a 1.5ghz in the fall. However, my difficulty right now is whether or not to wait. I can use the annual upgrade policy sometime before Q4, and then use again next summer when we should have a good choice in LTE devices. I’m not sure that any device released this year (by Verizon) will be LTE capable.

Im not sure which, if any, phone will be LTE capable this year. I went through the same debate, but the way I saw it was that the X does everything I was looking for in a phone and a few other things. LTE will be a little while in the making for widespread coverage as every new network is, and waiting another 5-6 months for a phone that MIGHT make use of the faster speeds using my current phone just wasn’t worth it. I think that this way Ill be able to upgrade again around the same time LTE will be well deployed in the areas I need it and will take advantage of it.

I officially can’t hold out for this phone, just 2 days left and I just hope I could get my hands on one,. I have already been reading a lot about the Android 2.2 update which can come in August, simply one more motive to be psyched about this great phone. Motorola and Verizon claim they will certainly update the phone to Android 2.2 “late summer time.” It will be an over-the-air update. However out-of-the box on its July 15 launch it may have Android 2.1.

I have been sense a little heat this a . m . from quite a few folks not seeking to think that the Droid X inventory may be confined on release day, as we reported before. Well we have simply got 5 additional screenshots from 5 pretty significant markets as well as I’d say once more of which stock appears to end up being fairly limited to me. Some associated with the main suppliers have up-wards of 60 devices, but some might only have five devices. Now maybe these numbers tend to be above typical for a Verizon launch, nevertheless for a gadget this large, I guess I just thought retailers might could have tried to have already been overstocked.
