While a lot of Evo users in the rooting world have opted to follow the developers to the 3D, the developers for the Evo 4G, the Incredible, and the My Touch 4G have not forgotten about you. In fact, they pulled together to make quite possibly the greatest experience you could ask for on your phone. While some of these names may not mean anything to you if you don’t use custom ROMs on your Incredible, Evo, or My Touch, for those of us that do we know the power behind arguably the greatest collection of devs ever assembled (no Cyanogen vs Synergy fights, you hear? Argue Sense vs AOSP on your own time). So, thanks to Team Synergy: DJZager, incubus26JC, Joelz9614, Myn, WoZZer, and Virus we now have Project Synergy.
I will be posting a full review of this ROM tomorrow, but I’ll give a general overview now. The ROM is Sense 3.0 based mixed with some AOSP goodies a lot of CM7 users are used to. Taking that into account, I’ll admit this right now: it is the best Sense 3.0 “port” to hit these devices bar none. I’ve been a beta tester on the Evo for several weeks now and I can say even in beta the ROM felt more complete than most released ROMs out there. This team of incredibly talented developers left no stone unturned. Unlike other Sense 3.0 ROMs, battery life is fantastic, Everything works, it doesn’t slow down/lag often, and there are already tons of mods for it (it’s still only on the first release candidate! If history is anything to look at though, this ROM will have tons of to work with by the time it “dies out”). The Sense 3.0 lockscreen is HUGE improvement over its predecessor (and even from someone who’s used to Widgetlocker, this is a very nice alternative).
As someone who’s been a CM7/AOSP junky for the past 4-5 months, I strongly suggest everyone with a rooted phone to look at this ROM. I’m used to the wicked fast ROMs, customization options, and loads of free memory; something Sense is often criticized for missing. While I’ll go more in depth about it tomorrow, there is a sense of refinement with Sense 3.0 combined with this dev team that you just don’t get with CM7 or any ROM I’ve seen previously. Everything looks smooth, the widgets and animations are breathtaking, and I forgot how far above the Sense Mail app was compared to its Stock Android counterpart. Again, more on that tomorrow, but the amount of drooling I’m doing over this ROM should be an indication of how excited I am that it has now been released to the public. What are you waiting for? Go try it out!
